Trip to the Frank Kanton by Alexander Spack in May 2009

156. Mirniy

View of the Mirniy settlement.

There was a pigfarm #593 called "Kommunist" established in this area in 1931. Today it is unknown if the farm was established by the people of Huckertal or if it was founded in connection to then newly established settlement of Mirniy*). The latter might be the right guess, since the people living in Mirniy today say that their settlement also goes by the name of Kommunist, same as the now non-existing pigfarm.

Mirniy is on the verge of disappearing. Today there are only 5 families living there.

*) Mirniy means "the peaceful one" in Russian.
